NDIS - What does it mean?
- National Information: The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is a scheme that applies throughout Australia. It is intended to assist participants in obtaining the assistance they require so that their skills and independence can improve over time.
- Eligibility: To be eligible for the NDIS, you must meet the following criteria:
- You must be an Australian citizen or have a Permanent or Special Category visa to enter Australia.
- Be under the age of 65.
- Have a significant and permanent disability.
- The individual receives funds from the NDIS directly.
- Visit the NDIS website to learn more about the program, including who your NSW Local Area Coordinator is and how to apply.

- Permanent and significant disability: A permanent disability is one that is likely to last a lifetime. A major disability has a significant influence on your capacity to carry out daily tasks.
- Support and services: Assistance or services that assist a person in their day-to-day activities, allowing them to participate in the community and achieve their objectives.
- Early intervention: Providing early support to a person, whether a child or an adult, to decrease the effects of impairment or developmental delay and to help them develop skills and independence.
